What DOES one wear to solve a murder?
Something like this, perhaps? (Image from here)
I know this doesn’t look anything like the kind of thing Hercule Poirot or Sherlock Holmes would wear (Poirot in a grass skirt? Not a pretty thought), but they weren’t solving murders while on a Caribbean cruise at a bar.
Confused? I’ll break it down for you. I’m holding a fundraiser for TRAFFIC, again, on March 18, and this time it’s a murder mystery theme, set on a Caribbean cruise ship. I took part in a murder mystery for a friend’s hens night and it was great fun, and I thought it would work really well as a singles event, so that’s what this is. A Caribbean-cruise themed murder mystery for singles, which is also a fundraiser. And a mouthful. And hard to explain. Which is why it’s probably easier for you to just go to this link if you want to know more about this fundraiser for wildlife (and please, PLEASE, if you have friends in Melbourne, spread the word!).
Anyway.
I’m trying to work out what to wear, as there are several options for costumes. One option is Hawaiian. I do like the idea of a flower in my hair… (image from here)
And I also like the idea of decorating the bar to look kind of like this (all images below from hawaiihistory.org )
I’m not so keen on the idea of running the event in my bathers, but I do like this vintage tourism poster…
And here’s a photo which I am including simply because it is cool, I think this lady was a writer who lived in Hawaii. Now this is the kind of outfit that I could wear even if it weren’t a dress up party!
That sounds like a lot of fun – love a good murder mystery! They always make me think of 20's styles. I'm sure you'll look fantastic whatever you go for.
