Wilderness weekend
Well, hello there! I’m just back from a very refreshing girly weekend away in the Otways (that’s why I didn’t post this morning – I really did just get back!). I’m going to be writing about it for one or two of my proper jobs so I can’t really say too much about what I got up to, but we had such an amazing time that I thought I should share it with you as soon as possible. Just looking at this redwood forest should set the scene…
And look at who we met…
This koala was just wandering along the side of the road on the way down to Cape Otway Lighthouse. I’d never seen one so close up in the wild before!
The lighthouse and its surrounds were beautiful…
I can’t imagine living here as a lightkeeper – it’s such a beautiful place but at the time that lightkeepers were needed, it was so isolated that supply ships only came every six months to a year!
The highlight of the trip was the Great Ocean Ecolodge which happens to be a conservation centre too. That’s why this adorable little joey was hopping around…
And why this sweet, sleepy baby koala was peacefully snacking on gum leaves…
And why we got so close up to this extremely rare tiger quoll…
And got to FEED sugar gliders!!
I’m not going to say any more about the Ecolodge because I would just go on and on, I had such a lovely time! So I will just end with a few more snaps from various rainforest walks that we did in the Otways. If you’ve never been, try to get down there as soon as you can. It’s an amazing piece of Victoria!
Oh my goodness, CUTE ANIMALS GALORE! And beautiful scenery! Can't wait to hear more 🙂
Oh man, looks like so much fun! I'm so jealous you got to be so close to all those cute furry animals!
