Styling the very first Oxfam Accessories Catalogue!

If you’re a fan of fair trade fashion and jewellery, you might have already seen the Oxfam Australia accessories catalogue that’s been released recently. Did you know it’s the first ever accessories catalogue that Oxfam Australia has made? No wonder Ardu and Taylor are so happy to be part of it!

It’s full of fabulous finds like these necklaces which look just like gemstones…

…but are actually upcycled from magazines and crushed glass by some very clever producers in Swaziland. oxfam_accessories_rachelmanns_Nov14_producthighres_3Woxfam_accessories_rachelmanns_Nov14_fashionhighres_24_edit

The scarf… the clutch… the earrings… the cuff… yes, all from Oxfam!oxfam_accessories_rachelmanns_Nov14_fashionhighres_33_edit

There’s stuff for guys too! I especially like this bag that Lewis is modelling, it’s perfect as an office satchel or to wear more casually just with jeans.  A Valentine’s Day present for that special someone, perhaps?

Pretty gorgeous, hey? And the accessories aren’t bad either, hehe… (seriously, how good does Jody look!?)

I was extremely honoured to be invited along to do the styling on this shoot, thanks to photographer Rachel Manns who (like myself) is a contributor to Peppermint magazine. It was a gorgeous day and we were lucky enough to have an idyllic location – can you believe this garden is in the inner suburbs of Melbourne? It’s more like an exotic Moroccan courtyard!

And can you believe none of the beauties in the catalogue are professional models? Aren’t they stunners? Rachel playing Beyonce full bore on her iPod stereo might also have helped them get in the “goddess” mood just a little bit…ox3(Do you recognise some pieces from my wardrobe? This kaftan and this three-way dress?)

Of course there is a bit of work that goes on behind the scenes at fashion shoots to create all that gorgeousness, as Nicola from Oxfam is demonstrating here…

But all in all, this shoot was more like a day out with friends, playing dress ups, sunning ourselves and occasionally snapping some photos!

ox5We all had a great time doing the shoot and can’t wait for the next one. So get in to your local Oxfam shop or jump online and check out what we got up to – and discover some fabulous fair trade accessories to add to your wardrobe along the way!
