Sewing a piece of sunshine

It’s going to be a hot one in Melbourne this week, after what seems like a ridiculously slow start to summer. Maybe, in these last two days of my day job before my holidays start, I’ll get to debut this dress?

I finally got to make it from the batik I bought in Indonesia two years ago (coincidentally, the hat is also from Indonesia!).

It took me ages to pluck up the courage to cut into the material because I loved the pattern so much that I didn’t want to wreck it. It reminds me of sunshine – as does just about every batik print. I think it was worth the wait for inspiration (and time!) to strike though. I can’t wait for work to finish so that I can start making a dent in the rest of my fabric stash!
