Brunch with Sarah Mower!
Well, it could have been if I were at Fashion Week in Paris. If you know who Sarah Mower is, you may be wondering how I got such a coveted invitation. The answer is that I am apparently still on the email list of fashionistas whom the press chase every fashion season. How did I get on that list? Well, some of you may have heard of a little-known magazine called Vogue. I worked on the Japanese edition in a tiny backwater place called Tokyo, and sometimes I was forced (kicking and screaming, of course) to go to the fashion collections overseas. And once you’ve been to the collections once, you are forever destined to receive invitations to fash bashes, although admittedly only extremely occasionally.
One of the things I used to do at Vogue was, coincidentally, to edit Sarah Mower’s regular page, which showed off her sweet sketches of the latest trends combined with snaps of items which I had to source.
Cute, hey? (Sabine, this is what I was referring to!)
So what was I doing while the stylish were no doubt sipping champagne, nibbling canapes and networking in gay Paree? I was sitting on the floor in freezing Melbourne with my laptop and Suki sitting on my legs, hard at work translating (and taking bad photos). Do you like my snuggly new Emu boots? I won them here! And in a nod to Me-Made-March, you can just see the sleeve of the jumper which I stuffed up while trying to remake and is therefore relegated to the house.
And to neatly tie things up in this post, what did I happen to be translating this week but the iPhone app for Vogue girl! So even if you don’t read Japanese, you can catch up on everything the bright young things over there are into right now. It should be available in the next few days, so if you download it, let me know what you think!!
Woah that is so cool!! haha too bad you couldn't go though π¦http://www.closet-fashionista.com/
Oh yes, I can imagine you going kicking and screaming! π
Ha! That's amazing – I would have loved to be your stand-in. Next time you've got to come yourself! BTW, Sarah Mower was sitting in the shows with her sketch book in hand, busily sketching away…
Such a glamerous life! If I had an iPhone, I definitely would check it out, but alas, I do not. Just saw that you posted your Savers haul over at the oppy blog so will check it out now! I found some goodies too!!!Xx Claire
