From trash to a turban headband
Well known among my friends for never being able to throw anything out, I couldn’t resist when one of them invited me to take on some material that her grandma was getting rid of. Look at the gorgeous marbled colours – would you have been able to say no to this?
I couldn’t, even though there was only a scrap or three of it left, because I could see a potential scarfy-head-wrappy thing could result if I joined the scraps together. So I lined them up as in the picture above to join them (if you are ever joining scraps to make a longer piece of material eg for a belt, strap or scarf, it is always better to join them on the bias, ie on the diagonal, rather than joining right-angled pieces together, as it distributes the seam more evenly across the fabric). This was what I made:
Yes, a turban headband… would that be a turband? Oh, and a very happy cat.
Here’s a side view, of the turband anyway. Not of the happy cat. She didn’t think her profile was her most flattering angle, even though I think she’s adorable no matter how you look at her.
It was very easy to make this – even easier if you don’t have to join scraps of material first! You can do it with any scarf that is long enough to easily go around your head, like so: Bring both lengths together in the middle above your head…
Wrap one end over the other…
… and the remaining end over the first one…
Then tuck the ends under the rest of the scarf, and you’re finished! If you like, you can stitch the ends in place so you don’t have to do the wrapping thing every time, although this might not work so well unless the material is a bit stretchy.
Remember you can always add other accessories…. such as earrings and a cat!

A cat should always be the first accessory you think to add to an outfit!
So cute! I'm not really a fan of turbans, but I looove how a turban head band looks. Great!
Your cat has an amazing squidy face. Love it.
